Woodhaven Senior Services

Woodhaven has an active senior citizen contingent. Their group covers many interests from social pursuits, recreation activities, volunteer work, to health and legal information.

The senior club in Woodhaven has members from the age of 62 and up. They meet twice a month for meetings, one includes a social dinner and the other is for business.  Another group comes in each Tuesday for BINGO and other card games to keep their minds active and get out of their homes for just a few hours.

Besides games in the Community Center, the Woodhaven senior citizens participate in the Downriver Senior Olympics, competing in nearly all of the 23 events that take place over a week in the summer. They travel with the City bus to various historic, entertaining, and accessible trips throughout the year, like the Edsel and Eleanor Ford Estate, shopping at Twelve Oaks Mall, Put in Bay, Ohio and various casino trips. The seniors are also welcome to join the lunch bunch that goes to a different restaurant each month.

While there is always attention paid to fun, there is also a focus in keeping seniors healthy. We have a food pantry supplied with basic essential foods for those seniors who are in need in our city. The seniors can also utilize the Woodhaven on Wheels transportation for doctor appointments, banking and shopping.

Anyone who needs information about the senior services can call Pam at (734)362-2931 and any requests for additional services are accepted.
