Woodhaven Building Department

CHECK FIRST! Many home improvement projects require a permit.

Planning on doing some home improvement projects? Before starting check with this department to learn if a permit is required. A permit is usually required for but not limited to:

  • New buildings
  • Additions
  • Residential work (fences, garages, water heaters, concrete, pools, re-roof, etc.)
  • Renovations
  • Electrical systems
  • Plumbing systems
  • HVAC (heating & air-conditioning, ventilation)

Downloadable Permits and Applications are now available online. Please be sure to complete the entire application and be sure it is signed and dated.

A permit fee is collected to cover the cost of the application, the review and the inspection process. Once a permit is issued work can begin

Homeowners: When dealing with a contractor, it is in your best interest to have them pull permits and arrange for the proper inspections. The permit fees are the same for contractor or homeowner. We strongly recommend that when you hire someone to do work for you, you ask them to provide you a copy of the permit.
