CCW Permit Procedure

On July 1, 2003 the procedure changed for obtaining a CCW permit. The applicants must now take all the pertinent paperwork to the County Clerk at the Coleman A. Young Municipal Center, 2 Woodward Ave. Detroit on the 2nd floor between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. FIRST.

Pertinent paperwork includes:

  • CCW application
  • Gun Class certificate
  • $105.00 application fee
  • A passport quality photo 1" x 1 ½"
  • Copy of driver's license

If not a US born citizen applicant will need a copy of their "Naturalization Certificate"

** Applicant is responsible for copies

Upon finishing at the County Clerk's Office applicants bring their receipt, which has a control number on it, to the police department for finger printing. Applicant must pay a $15.00 finger print process fee and fill out the attached Criminal History Request form.
